Meet Our Staff

Lindley Mayer: Owner 

Lindley Mayer has danced for 26 years and more than anything her passion is to entertain and perform.  She moved to Los Angeles, CA after high school where she resided for seven years. She recently performed as a lead dancer for the remake of "Dirty Dancing" for Lionsgate pictures which will air in the fall. She can also be seen on projects such as; GLEE, The Oscar’s with Host Seth MacFarlane, Bunheads on ABC Family, America’s Got Talent, Victorious and performing for Lady Antebellum for the American Country Music Awards. She also worked on Hunger Games in the role of Kaysa Minox, as well as The Walking Dead and also starred in a television series that was filmed in the Upstate as well as in California entitled “Morningside”. She is experienced in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip-hop, Contemporary, Modern, Musical Theatre and Lyrical. She has appeared in commercials for NASCAR, Wii (Just Dance), Camp Rock Promo and The Big Help with iCarly. One of her favorite experiences was performing at Christina Aguilera’s home for her son’s 2nd birthday. Lindley can be seen in the Benson Nissan commercials locally as well as modeling for companies in the upstate like Marley Lilly, Monday Dress and Coast Apparel. 

 

Lindley has done choreography for many National Champion competition teams, college teams, studio teams as well as pageant soloists. She is the choreographer and lead dancer for a KCET Television show called “Shushybye”.  She also performed the role of Magic Carpet in Disneyland’s “Aladdin- A Musical Spectacular.” 

Lindley is also playing a featured dancer in the ABC hit remake of Dirty Dancing this Summer. Lindley is also the choreographer for Greenville Fashion Week powered by The SOCIETY. 

She was Miss South Carolina Teen 2005 and along with finishing 1st runner up to Miss South Carolina in 2013 she won overall talent for 2 consecutive years. Lindley had three of the top 5 winners at the Miss South Carolina Teen pageant this summer as well as the overall Talent Winner, Shaylyn Simmons showcasing her choreography!   

 

Lindley founded her non-profit (501c3) organization called L.A.D.Y Bugs Across America; Lindley’s Alliance for Disabled Youth in 2005 and has always enjoyed giving back to the community and promoting kindness, inclusion and respect for not only her siblings but for ALL children living with disabilities. Angela Singleton: Co-Director

Angela has over 18 years of dance education and 14 years in dance instruction. She has been choreographing for 10 years and has received awards for entertainment, costuming and choreography. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Anderson College with a bachelors degree in Business. She served as Miss South Carolina 1996 and Mrs. SC America 2005. Angela is also the coordinator of Taylor's Team: Kids Helping Kids teaching children the importance of community service and has spent over 10 years working with pediatric cancer families. She will serve as studio Co-Director and instructor to basic and intermediate dancers, as well as all levels of tap. Angela is the mother of 2 daughters and wife to her high school sweetheart, Chad. She is also the owner of Adorn the House, a Home Decor boutique offering new, vintage and repurposed accent pieces and furniture. One of Angela's tap trios brought home the National Title at Starpower Talent in the duet/trio division. 

Anina Basile: Ballet/Pointe Instructor 

Anina's life is defined by dance. She has trained professionally since she was a little girl and movement to music is her life. Her talent has taken her from a full-ride scholarship at Julliard NYC to stages around the world. She is versed in composition, anatomy and pretty much any style of dance you can think of. She is going to challenge our ladies to take a look at the fundamentals, to really improve on their technique and to grow as artists. Anina finds a way to keep moving. After being a Principal Dancer for 10 years for the Carolina Ballet Theatre, and teaching at several studios across the Upstate, she is thrilled to be part of  Shock Dance family now too!

Katie Gillespie: Preschool and Shock Stars Special Needs Instructor

Katie began dancing at the age of three and continued her dance career. She was a member of the dance team who placed fifth at the FDC World Dance Championships in Dallas, Texas in 2011. She was also a member of five national championship winning teams where she performed as a soloist and jazz team member. Katie is a veteran of local high school pageants where she was a Senior Beauty and three time talent and casual wear winner. She performed as a "Miss South Carolina" Dancer for two years and has instructed dance classes at other local studios in the upstate.
 

Katie graduated from Clemson university where she was dance chair of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She enjoys working with her students in Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Jazz as well as other dance classes. She loves sharing her passion for dance with her students through building strong relationships and

helping them reach their potential.

Anna Newton: Hip Hop Instructor

Anna Newton is a Senior Marketing major minoring in Communication Studies at Clemson University. Anna has been performing since she was three, and dancing competitively for 13 years. She has been recognized nationally in the dance industry, with multiple awards for both solo and choreography pieces. She was also the co-choreographer and lead dancer for the 2018 Sphinx music video alongside Lindley Mayer. Now, she continues to enjoy dancing on the sidelines and court as a Clemson University Rally Cat. In the 2015 Miss South Carolina Teen pageant, Anna placed in the top 5. She continues to be a part of the Miss South Carolina organization by volunteering, mentoring, and being the co-choreographer for the Princess Program and state preliminaries. Anna has trained extensively in several styles including jazz, ballet, pom, hip hop and contemporary. She was also selected as one of the few Rally Cats to represent at the Pro Action Convention. During her time at school, Anna has been a Clemson University Tour guide, worked with football recruiting as a member of Tiger Pride, and currently is a member of Alpha Delta Pi and a Clemson Rally Cat. She also models for MarleyLilly, Splash on Main, Entourage, and Blake & Brady.  Anna is proudly representing one of the top schools in the nation as Miss Clemson University 2019. We are looking so forward to having this amazing dancer and incredible mentor as a part of Shock Dance Center.

Ryan Kirby: Hip Hop/Contemporary Instructor

Ryan Kirby began dancing at the age of 6. Training until he graduated school in his hometown of South Carolina. After graduation, he worked as a company director and has won numerous choreography awards including national first overalls and FDC awards. After directing for 2 years, Ryan decided to pursue his dream of dancing professionally and moved to Los Angeles, California. After moving, Ryan worked on Glee, toured the country with Macy's passport and on the 2015 Pentatonix tour, worked on a Toyota commercial, and on several music videos and industrials. He also taught at IDA (international dance academy) in Hollywood, and EVOLVE dance intensives as faculty. Ryan returned to his home of Greenville in 2018 and has been teaching and traveling since. We are excited to welcome him to the Shock Dance Family as a part time staff member during his residencies.

Pam Wage: Tap Instructor

Throughout her life, Pam Wage has demonstrated her passion for dance and twirling.  Her interest in dance began nearly 40 years ago at Asheville Dance Theater in Asheville, North Carolina.  She also attended Drum Majorettes of America camps and was an award-winning feature twirler for the T. C. Roberson High School band.  She continued her education at the University of Tennessee where she performed in the University of Tennessee Dance Company and completed courses in dance history, dance philosophy, dance notation, dance pedagogy, dance composition, jazz, tap, ballet, modern, lighting, and costuming.  She also performed as a company member in the Oak Ridge Civic Ballet.  Her continuing education has included workshops at MusicWorks and the Rhee Gold Dance Teacher Life Conference.  She also has taken classes from master teachers with extensive professional experience such as Long Zhao (former principal dancer, New York University, Beijing Dance Academy) and Patrice Leroy (former professional dancer in Europe) at Studio Zoom in Bangkok, Thailand.

 

Pam shares her passion through teaching.  She has taught dance, twirling, and gymnastics to children and adults.  She started as an assistant dance teacher and twirling teacher at Asheville Dance Theater.  While in Tennessee, she taught at Knoxville School of Ballet Arts and Studio Arts for Dancers.  After moving to Alexandria, Virginia, she taught jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical and gymnastics at Dancensations.  After moving to Greenville, South Carolina, she taught gymnastics at Head Over Heals and directed the Mauldin Recreation youth cheerleading program.  She then taught tap, jazz, ballet, and pom-pon at a local studio for more than a decade.  During this time she directed and choreographed for the tap teams.  She also partnered with Upstate Challenger Sports to create a dance class for special-needs students.  While in Bangkok, Thailand, she taught ballet and tap to a group of international ladies.  After returning to the Upstate, Pam was the director, choreographer, and instructor for jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary, and lyrical at K&M Dance House.  Pam has recently returned to twirling as a guest instructor at Sunshine Twirling and Dance Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  Pam has been working with the advanced tap technique class at Shock and is excited to return this season!

Pam expands her passion through designing, sewing, accessorizing, and selecting unique costumes.  She designed costumes for individuals and teams at Upstate Carolina Dance Center and K&M Dance House.  She has spent countless hours preparing every detail of the costumes for the year including everything from ordering to accessorizing with rhinestones.  Most recently, she has been assisting Ms. Donna Sachon, expert seamstress and owner of Donna Kaye Design, in the creation of unique costumes and pageant wear for customers across the Carolinas and Georgia.

Pam shares her passion even through family.  She originally became interested in dance through her cousin, Mischa.  She taught dance and twirling to her younger sister, Lanette, while at Asheville Dance Theater.  She met her husband, David, while choreographing for an intramural singing competition at the University of Tennessee and she has taught him in adult classes.  Pam’s cousin Colton was the inspiration for her work with special-needs students.

Ashley Warren: ACro Instructor

Ashley Warren is 23 years old and a recent graduate from Clemson University with a major in Psychology and minor in Athletic Leadership. She took ballet and tap as a young child, but ultimately found her passion in gymnastics. She was a gymnast for nine years, competing competitively for five at Foothills Gymnastics in Easley, SC. Following an injury that took her out of the sport, Ashley was blessed to begin coaching her own teams while in high school. During that time, she had multiple state and regional champions. One of her gymnasts even scored a perfect 10 at the Region 8 competition in Savannah, GA! Ashley was also in charge of choreographing her team’s floor routines, and co-choreographing for the upper level gymnasts. Coaching gymnastics gave Ashley the insight and respect for dance as it is so important. She gained experience teaching acro for dancers while in college and realized how crucial both sports were to each other. Throughout college, she was lucky enough to volunteer with Greenville Memorial Hospital in their Child Life program as well as the Pickens County Advocacy Center. Her passion has always been working with children and she loves getting to do so in such a fun and energizing environment. She has been teaching with SHOCK since last season and has loved every minute of it! 

Sydney Sill: beginner Tap/Ballet Instructor and Studio Office Assistant 

Sydney Sill is 22 years old and a recent graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Communications. She has been dancing since the age of three being proficient in the styles Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, and Pointe. Sydney was Miss South Carolina Teen 2012 as well as Miss Clemson University 2015 winning the title as just a freshman. In her free time she enjoys volunteering at the Shriners Hospital of Greenville where she is an ambassador as well as a patient. Sydney had scoliosis surgery in 2008 and was told she would never be able to dance again. Little did the doctors know she would end up being a stronger dancer after the surgery than she was before. Sydney enjoys working with kids to help them find what they are most passionate about and inspire them to believe that With God all things are possible! She currently teaches Ballet and Jazz, and has been a dance teacher for the past 4 years. Sydney is also a model for Marley Lilly, an online company. Sydney competed for Miss South Carolina last summer where she placed 1st Runner-up and is excited to be going back to Miss South Carolina this summer as Miss Clemson! Sydney looks forward to what the future holds in the next few months ahead and is excited to be on staff here with us at SHOCK!

Gwen Stamp: Clogging Instructor

Gwen Stamp is a graduate of the University of South Carolina - Upstate with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics & Computer Science.  She directs a National Champion team - Southern Junction Cloggers - which she founded in 1995. Since then, the Southern Junction Clogging Company has traveled throughout the US competing and performing in events such as Disney Performing Arts, Red Hat Regional Events, Music on the Mountain, Fall for Greenville, NC United Arts Council, Junior Olympics, Miss SC Preliminary pageants, Michelin's 100th Anniversary Celebration, and the Children's Miracle Network Telethon. Gwen was named the United Clogging Association Director of the Year (2018) and Legacy Team, ACHF All American Team, ACHF Team of the Millennium, NCHC All Stars Team, and the South Carolina Clogging Council's Palmetto Finest Team.

Hunter Singleton: Intermediate Jazz Instructor/Teacher Assistant 

Hunter Singleton grew up and currently lives in Woodruff, SC. After graduating from James F. Byrnes High School in 2018, she moved on to receive her cosmetology degree from Palmetto Beauty School. She now attends Spartanburg Community College where she majors in Management and Marketing. Hunter has been dancing for 15 years. The past four years, Hunter has been a member of the Senior Company here at Shock. She has had extensive training in tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, ballet, and Pom, and is excited to share her knowledge with our students at Shock! Since the age of five Hunter has been involved in community service supporting pediatric cancer patients and those displaced due to child abuse. Through these efforts she has received several Presidential Volunteer Service Awards as well as other local and national recognition. Hunter is excited about becoming apart of the Shock Staff and can’t wait to begin her teaching journey in the fall!

Amanda Compton: Hip Hop/Jazz/Technique Substitute  

Amanda Compton is a May 2019 honor graduate of Clemson University where she received her

degree in Communication with a minor in Athletic Leadership. During her time at Clemson, she

was a member of Clemson’s Rally Cats Dance Team and was named a Collegiate All-American

Dancer. She traveled with the team to support Clemson athletics across the country, including

performances at Madison Square Garden and most recently in the 2019 National Championship

Game where she watched her Tigers win the title! As a Rally Cat, Amanda choreographed half-

time dances, taught high school clinics, and served as the coordinator for the new team

members. Amanda attended JL Mann High School and graduated in 2015. During high school, Amanda

held local titles in the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization. In 2013, she was Miss

Anderson County Teen and placed 4 th runner up at the Miss South Carolina Teen pageant. In

2014, Amanda represented the low country as Miss Hilton Head Island Teen and placed 3 rd

runner up at State, competing as a dancer on a torn ACL.Amanda began dancing at the age of two. Since then, she has competed nationally and spent three summers training with the Joffrey Ballet and various studios in Los Angeles, California. Amanda also trained at Shock Dance Center as a member of the senior company. Amanda has several choreography awards and numerous overall dance titles including Miss Nexstar, Miss Teen Starpower, Miss Teen Kids Artistic Review, and Miss Teen Headliners. She has taught dance classes for several years and loves mentoring the younger dancers.

Morgan Norris: Teacher Assistant 

Morgan Norris currently resides in Taylor’s South Carolina! She attends school at Greenville Technical College where she majors in the Arts program. She has danced at SHOCK Dance for the past 4 years on the competitive team. In the last 4 year she has also competed in various pageants with Lindley Mayer as her coach. She has obtained the title of Miss Powdersville Teen MAO and went onto compete at the Miss South Carolina MAO  pageant in 2017. In 2018, she won the SC Cinderella Ambassador title and went to compete at the Cinderella International pageant where she made the top 20 and received the Overall Casual Wear award. The past two summers she has volunteered as a choreography assistant and Princess Staff member with the Princess Program at the Miss South Carolina pageant. She has also spent the last two years assistant teaching at SHOCK dance. In March of 2019 she was chosen and danced as a Official Greenville Fashion Week Dancer which was an event held to benefit the Meyer Center for Special Children.  She keeps her self busy volunteering and working with the GHS Pediatric Oncology floor through her platform Dancer Vs. Cancer. She formed this platform after she was diagnosed at the age of 10 with Stage 3 Burkett’s Lymphoma. After undergoing treatments and was announced into remission she knew that she would forever give back to the kids fighting cancer every day and be hope for them in their journey! Morgan loves working at SHOCK dance and loves all her team mates! She hopes your children will love the SHOCK dance family as much as she does!

Brantley Mayer: Studio assistant/Pre School Teacher Assistant

Brantley Mayer is an inspiration to everyone she meets. Her heart, love for those around her, passion for helping others and ability to light up a room are all contagious. Brantley is the sister of owner, Lindley Mayer, and she suffers from a rare kidney disease called Fanconi Syndrome which creates mental and physical disabilities. She has never let this get her down. The doctors told her as well as Lindley’s brother that they may never walk, talk or be able to perform normal everyday activities. They both excel way beyond what anyone ever thought possible. Brantley is in her 3rd year working as an office assistant and teacher assistant for our pre school classes. She also walked the runway in Greenville Fashion Week, dances in the Shock recital and so much more. We are proud to have such a beautiful light as a large part of Shock Dance and are so thankful for all she does to make our dance studio such a wonderful place. 



 

Marion Reeves: Studio & Admin assistant/Office Coordinator

Marion was born and raised in Greenville, SC and grew up training in all styles of dance. She was a member of the JL Mann Varsity dance team all 4 of her high school years. She attended Clemson University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in History with a minor in Education. She then moved back to Greenville to attend graduate school at Clemson University and in 2015 received her Masters in the Art of Teaching Middle Grades Social Studies. She spent four years teaching 8th grade at Sevier Middle School. After leaving teaching, she has loved pouring into the community more through work as a contributor for TALK Magazine and an active member of the Junior League. She works as the JL Mann High School Dance Team Coach and as a Lead Planner for Katie Williams Events. Greenville is the place she will always call home and in her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and checking out fun new (doggy-friendly) places with her labradoodle, Scarlett! She is very goal oriented, organized, talented and incredibly good with administrative duties. We are thrilled to have Marion as an addition to our Shock Staff.
